Bank of America has closed its Boonsboro branch, and the bank is reviewing proposals from potential buyers for its building.
The branch closed Aug. 14, bank spokeswoman Nicole Nastacie said in an e-mail.
Customer accounts were moved to the Bank of America on Langhorne Road about four miles away, she said. Employees were transferred to other jobs.
“The consolidation helps bring banking center coverage in balance with market opportunity,” Nastacie said. “We continually optimize our network to improve overall distribution and customer satisfaction, while maximizing our investment dollars.”
Real estate firm CB Richard Ellis has been listing the bank building, located at 4923 Boonsboro Road in front of the Boonsboro Shopping Center. Chris Doyle, president of the CBRE’s Virginia arm, said bids were taken in July.
The sale is handled by CBRE’s corporate office, he said.
CBRE and two other real es-tate firms have established the Web site BankingCentersForSale.com to offer Bank of America locations.
It lists three Virginia bank sites, including the one on Boonsboro Road, and more than 60 locations nationwide.
The Web site said many banking center buildings were operating when listed but would close before being sold.
