- Jeff Pullen, C.P.O, C.Ped., has joined the new office of Virginia Prosthetics, located at 2025 Tate Spring Road, Suite A2. Pullen is a certified orthotist, prosthetist and pedorthist with more than 34 years of experience in the O&P field, including 19 years in Lynchburg. A graduate of the University of Virginia where he received a B.A. in psychology, Pullen is also a graduate of the Feinberg School of Medicine’s Department of Orthotics and Prosthetics at Northwestern University, Chicago. He is certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics, and is a member of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists.
- Bonnie Heller, RN-BC, director of Quality Assurance & Education at Westminster Canterbury, Lynchburg, attained certification as a Certified Dementia Practitioner by the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. Employed at Westminster Canterbury for 21 years, Heller has served in several nursing administration positions, including director of health services and director of nursing. In her current position, she is responsible for assisting the community to maintain compliance with State and Federal regulations and the standards for continued accreditation with CARF-CCAC, Infection Control Quality Assurance and staff education. She is a graduate of Lynchburg General Hospital School of Professional Nursing.
Construction
- Mike Loflin has joined Coleman-Adams Construc-tion Inc. as director of sales and marketing. Loflin holds a B.S. degree in business management from Virginia Tech and has 27 years experience in construction sales and marketing. He is a past recipient of Butler’s Southeast Regional Salesman of the Year award. Coleman-Adams is a Design/Build commercial and industrial contractor serving central Virginia since 1971.
Awards
- Andre’ Whitehead, host and creator of the television talk show Conversations with Andre’ Whitehead, which airs at 9 a.m. Sundays on the CW5, was a recipient of the Community Service Award in media for his news division of his talk show. The news division of his company, Whitehead Media Ventures, delivers community news in 20- to 45-minute segments.
Promotions
- Brooks Food Group Inc. has announced the following promotions:
Cherie Goodman has been promoted to the position of controller and is responsible for the Cost Accoun-ting, Customer Service, General Accounting, Financial Reporting and the Treasury functions. Goodman joined the company in 2001.
Nancy “Libby” Lawrence has been named senior director of business development. She joined Golden West Foods Inc. in 1985 as purchasing coordinator and in 1996, was promoted to purchasing manager and director of purchasing in 2002. In her new position, Lawrence will be responsible for meeting the strategic growth plan for new and existing industrial and other accounts.
Professional certifications
- Brad Tyree was awarded his Journeyman’s Certification in HVAC from the Board of Contractors Tradesman License, a division of the Department of Professional & Occupational Regulation. Tyree, who has been employed as an installation mechanic with Wooldridge Heating Air & Electrical for more than five years, is currently enrolled in the apprenticeship program through CVCC.
