Lynchburg-area unemployment fell in September

Unemployment in the Lynchburg region dropped in September, although it remained higher than it was one year ago.

The jobless rate fell from 7.9 percent in August to 7.5 percent in September, acccording to data released today by the Virginia Employment Commission.

The rate in the Lynchburg region was 7.3 percent in September 2009.

The jobless rate for Virginia was 6.5 percent in September.
