One night of 'Love'

A documentary about the creation of “LOVE” — a Cirque du Soleil stage show set to the music of The Beatles and an album of the same name — will have a one nightscreening Oct. 20 in digitally equipped cinemas around the country, and one of those is in Lynchburg.

The documentary includes contributions from Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison.

It is being shown around the country, courtesy of several corporations including The Beatles’ company, Apple Corps Ltd., and Cirque du Soleil. The movie will be shown in Lynchburg at 4:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. at the Carmike 8, according to Fandango.com.

In it, director Adran Wills documents the partnership between The Beatles and Cirque du Soleil.

It grew out of the friendship between the late George Harrison and Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte. Harrison had a vision of the fusion of the talents of The Beatles and Cirque, according to www.beatles.com.

That partnership eventually led to the creation of “LOVE,” which is both a stage show and an album.

Cirque du Soleil’s stage show opened in 2006 and still plays at the Mirage in Las Vegas. The album, described in a news release as an experimental Beatles soundscape, garnered two Grammy Awards for producers Sir George Martin and Giles Martin.
