The Lynchburg Figure Skating Club is holding its fourth annual Christmas on Ice Show at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday at Liberty University’s LaHaye Ice Center.
The show will feature 50 local skaters, ranging in age from 4 to 40-something, performing 15 routines choreographed by coaches Yvonne Nelson-Reid and Kyle Smith.
Nelson-Reid is a former competitor in the Canadian National Championships in synchronized skating, and Smith is a 17-year-old Bedford County native who competes, coaches and is currently training to audition for Disney on Ice.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 the day of the show. They can be purchased in person at Lifeway Christian Stores and Givens Books or online at www.lynchburgfsc.com.
Amazement Square hosts festival
Amazement Square is holding a Children’s Holiday Festival from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The event will include pictures and a breakfast or lunch with Santa (the seatings are at 9 or 11 a.m. for breakfast and 1 or 3 p.m. for lunch), holiday crafts, cookie decorating and more.
Tickets are $12 for children and $8 for adults who are members and $15 for children and $12 for adults who aren’t; prices include the cost of admission to the museum itself.

Ellington Fridays hosts blues band
The Deanie Blues Band is headlining the final Ellington Fridays of the year.
The night begins at 5 and runs until 8:30 p.m., with light appetizers, a cash bar and lots of dancing.

Lynchburg College hosts holiday concert
The Lynchburg College Orchestra and Wind Symphony’s holiday concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Sydnor Performance Hall. Gregory Krueger, curator of the Lynchburg Museum System, is giving a talk, “Federal Era Holiday Traditions,” at 2 p.m. Sunday in the college’s Daura Gallery. It’s part of the gallery’s Select Sundays program, when they open one Sunday each month for a special lecture.
