Two Lynchburg art galleries will throw their doors open Sunday for new shows.
The Lynchburg Art Club and Lightwings Gallery will each be open from 1:30 to 4 p.m.
The art club will host an opening reception during those hours for its new March show, which features the work of artists Solly Blank, Debbie Berger and Karen Bowden.
Just around the corner at 849 Belmont St., Lightwings will be showing work by Christine Callahan, Cheryl Hawkins, Nancy Hawkins, Bryan Langley and Cheryl Lynn.

Volume 3 will play this evening for the Ellington Fridays.

Rock to classics, originals
Burning Bridges plays tonight at Cattle Annie’s.
The band, which plays hard rock classics plus originals, is set to take the stage at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $7 before 10 p.m.
Paint class in Amherst
The Amherst County Recreation and Parks Department will offer an oil painting class from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 10 at the Coolwell Community Center. The cost is $45 per person.
