Art notes: The Princess and the Pea, more

On stage:

-WHAT: ‘The Princess and the Pea,’ a New Covenant Schools dinner theatre production

-WHEN: 6 p.m. Jan. 16 and 17

-WHERE: New Covenant’s Moomaw Gymnasium

-TICKETS: $15 for adults, $10 for children. Tickets must be reserved in advance by Friday.

-DINNER: The adult entrée is three-cheese stuffed shells, with either a pomodoro ragout sauce or rich Italian sausage marinara. The children’s menu is mini-shell pasta, with either the pomodoro or Italian sausage sauce. Salad, bread, veggies and dessert are also included.

Second Saturdays start again

The Second Saturday film series at Riverviews Artspace resumes Jan. 10 with a showing of the Italian film, “Days and Clouds.”

The screening of the film that tells the story of a middle-class couple facing economic crisis is is set to begin at 8 p.m.

The film, nominated for seven Donatello awards (called by some the Italian Oscars), will be shown in partnership with the Dante Alighieri Society

Calling all opera fans

Tickets are still available for Opera on the James’ “Opera Cabaret 2009.”

The benefit cabaret, set for 6 p.m. Jan. 17, presents “Dreams of Berlin.” The musical entertainment is directed by Craig Fields and features selections from genres ranging from Kurt Weill to German opera.

The show will go on in the Academy of Fine Arts Warehouse Theatre. Tickets for the gala, which includes dinner and an auction, are $100 per person. Visit www.lynchburgtickets.com or call (434) 528-3397.
