As it does every year, Thomas Road Baptist Church will celebrate America’s independence on the Sunday before the Fourth of July.
This year’s Celebrate America festivities are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. June 28 in Williams Stadium at Liberty University. The event, and parking, are free.
And as in years past, the event is expected to draw thousands.
The day always ends with fireworks. But before that there will be carnival rides, food and games.
At 4, there will be a car show next to Doc’s Diner.
And every hour on the hour, Hope Boards will give a skateboarding demonstration.
One highlight will be recognition of those who have served in the military and those who died for their country. Each person will receive a commemorative medal, and echo taps will be played to honor those who died. Representatives from the military will present colors.
At 7:15, Thunder on the Mountain motorcycles will roar in, followed by a band to start the concerts featuring country, rock, Motown, big band and, of course, patriotic music.
After the last note sounds, the fireworks will go off.
