Fire destroys Waterlick Road home
At least three Campbell County residents were displaced after a fire destroyed their home Tuesday afternoon, according to county authorities.
Public Safety Director Aubrey Cheatham said emergency dispatchers received the call to Waterlick Road near U.S. 460, at 1:27 p.m.
Firefighters arrived nine minutes later and found the house with flames and smoke showing from the outside.
Cheatham said the three residents home at the time got out safely.
The building, though still standing, is a total loss, he said.
Lyn-Dan Heights and Brookville-Timberlake volunteer fire departments both sent units to the scene, and had the fire out by about 2:40 p.m.
Cheatham said it appeared that the fire started from the kitchen area, though he didn’t speculate on the cause.
Cheatham said he didn’t know how many lived at the residence, or whether they had insurance.
The Historic Virginia Chapter of the American Red Cross, along with the Campbell County Department of Social Services, is helping the residents with food and shelter.
