New Heritage High School head football coach named

Lynchburg City Schools has chosen a new head football coach for Heritage High School.

Doug Smith will replace Chris Jones, who stepped down from coaching last month.

Smith was on the Heritage football coaching staff from 1992 until fall 2007. He will begin head coach duties immediately, the school system said this morning.

Smith teaches computer science at Heritage.
