A time to trust God and to get back into grace
Published: December 27, 2008
This week, we celebrated the birthday of Jesus the Christ, the son of God that came to give the nation of God another chance to get back in the grace of the Father.
As I look at this nation and the state in which it is in, I see as believers we must pray with a sincere heart to the Father. This nation needs to repent of the sins that have overtaken this country. They aren’t little or tedious; they are real and right here in our faces.
I know the economy is bad and people are worried and frightened, but as children of God we need to know that God has set this atmosphere up for his people. The Bible states in Proverbs 13:21-22 that evil pursues sinners; but to the righteous, good shall be repaid. A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
We say we trust God, and when things get hectic in our lives, we need to turn to the source and the provision-maker and allow Him to do what he does best, to take care of his children. The spirit of worrying and the spirit of fear are not of God (I Timothy 1:7), so we should not entertain that message that it brings, which is “you can’t trust God.”
We, as nation, need to come together as one and stop living divided. Mark 3: 24-25 says if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, it cannot stand. We must stand and fight for each other and for this nation, no matter what color our skin is. It takes unity to get this nation back in the grace of God.
People are worried about our President-elect because of the color of his skin, when it doesn’t matter who runs this country because if they aren’t seeking the face of the Jesus and the Father, this country won’t stand. In God’s eyes, it doesn’t matter what color we are because he created us all, and all belong to him.
Satan has spread so much hatred in this world that the world actually thrives on it. It’s like feeding raw meat to a vicious dog.
Christmas is a time of celebrating with our families and friends. It is a time to enjoy this great birth of the son of God Jesus for coming and then dying for us. But it also is a time when people can get overwhelmed and become depressed and suicidal.
This is the effect of the enemy, Satan, and he can cause people to take their own lives because they feel useless and unneeded. Jobs have gone sour so, therefore, they cannot buy and give as before.
But come together with some of those people that you know who feel lost and are in despair, and show them that they aren’t by themselves, that even in difficult times they can stand with the help of God. Pray with them. Show them love with arms of embracing. Invite them to eat with you and share your time with them.
I find in this life, such as it is now, that people need to see that you love them. Talking just won’t get it anymore because so many words have been said and many promises made. Yet the words were just words to satisfy the ears. And the promises were broken, leaving one not trusting.
I say to those who can’t give like they wanted to or used to, it’s not about the gifts. That’s not the reason Christ was born.
Matthew 2:11 says that when the wise men came to the house where Jesus was, they fell down and worshipped him because they knew his purpose for coming. They knew He was the savior and the son of God. They had never seen Jesus, but when in His presence, they knew their spirits were different. Even though the star lead them there they still understood that God had sent them there to witness the Savior.
Then the same chapter says that after they opened their treasures, they gave gifts to the child. What are your treasures? What’s inside you that on that Christmas morning you can share with your loved ones, something that would more valuable than anything you can buy?
Webster’s defines treasure as something of great worth or value. Then the wise men took gifts and presented them to the child. Gifts that had purpose and meaning. Gifts that would symbolize peace, strength, power in his life and his burial.
What gift can you give your loved ones without putting you in debt or even making you feel as if you failed your family? What can you give that will affect them the rest of their lives? I say to you whatever you give this season let it be wrapped with purpose and given with understanding.
