ACHIEVEMENTS

Appomattox

- The following Appomattox County High School Future Farmers of America members placed in the meat judging contest during the State FFA Meat Evaluation and Technology Career Development Event held in March at Virginia Tech: Mary Beth Wingfield, seventh in judging classes and questions and seventh overall, and Dani Gaulden, fifth in the written quiz and identification and sixth overall. The ACHS team, comprised of Wingfield, Gaulden and Mandi Dolan,  placed fourth in the state event.

Bedford

- The following members of the Jefferson Forest High School Forensics Team placed in the State Forensics Championship held April 4 in Harrisonburg: Graydon Uyeda, sixth in Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking, and Eric Fesmire, sixth in Original Oratory.

- The following Jefferson Forest High School art students had their entries accepted for exhibition in the 25th Annual High School Art Exhibition: Jordan Villa, Kevin Atkins, Channon Payne, Amanda Jones and Alycia Jones.

Lynchburg

- Holy Cross Regional Catholic School seniors Mary Anne King and Alex Kovalesky were selected by their school to receive ‘The Code of Ethics Award’ from the Rotary Club of Virginia.

- Holy Cross Regional Catholic School student Emily Hickey was selected to attend this summer’s Virginia Girls’ State and Chris Roy was selected to attend Virginia Boys’ State.
