ACHIEVEMENTS
Bedford
- Moneta Elementary School recently hosted a ‘Dimes for a Cure’ classroom contest to raise money for the school’s Relay for Life team. Kendra Larew’s class took first place with $163, and Beth Warren’s class took second place with $122.
- Thaxton Elementary School student Michelle Cox has been recognized by the United States Achievement Academy as a student of excellence in science. Cox was nominated by her teacher, Sylvia Robertson. Her name will appear in the United States Achievement Academy’s Official Yearbook which is published nationally. Cox was also recognized by the Academy as a United States National Honor Student Award winner.
Campbell
- The following Rustburg Middle School eighth-graders placed at the Central Virginia Governor’s School Regional Science Fair: Rachel Kimble, Best of Fair and first in Animal Sciences; Sara Burgess, first in Physics and a Naval Academy Award; Harley Betterton, second in Earth Science; Mike LaClair, second in Energy; and Josh Hendricks, honorable mention in Engineering and a Dental Sciences Award.
Lynchburg
- The following Perrymont Elementary School students were named to the Principal’s Honor Roll (all A’s): Alayna Powell, Michelle Payne, Demarr Gillis and Elijah Grant, third grade, and Makayla Fox, Katie Knight, Alura Miller and Gerika Moorman, fourth grade.
