ACHIEVEMENTS
Appomattox
- The following Appomattox Elementary School students are WILD about Reading: Belle White, Kayla Croner, Destine Berkeley, Jacob St. John and Samantha Hunter.
- The Appomattox High School Marching Band took first place in Class A at the Midlothian Showcase of Bands held recently at Midlothian High School. The Marching Raiders also won first place in the categories of music, marching, general effect, color guard and percussion, and tied with two other schools for the highest general effect score of the day. Overall, 11 schools competed in the showcase.
Bedford
- The following Big Island Elementary School students were named Student Council representatives: Meg Tomlinson, president, Kaylin Cox, vice president, Eli Ayers, secretary, Jarrett Rusher, treasurer, and Jesse Bobbitt, historian.
Lynchburg
- The following W.M. Bass Elementary School students were named ‘Terrific Kids’ by the Kiwanis Club of Lynchburg: Ania Mosby, Shakyla Williams, Faith Klitzka, Adrian Moore, Keshawn Colbert, Shyanne Reynolds, Ivy Wheaton, Trey Carter, Kevon McCray, Tyrese Slaughter, Wanisha Perry, Shawn Goode, Alan Nellums, Imani Slaughter, Na’starja Saunders, Simone Rucker and Qyaira Colbert.
- Heritage High School senior Kyle Tenny was recently named a 2009 National Merit Program Commended Student.
