ROANOKE — A Bedford County man is dead after the car he was driving crashed into a house on Fleming Avenue in Roanoke, according to police.

Police said Thomas Bennett, 21, was driving recklessly in the 3800 block of Williamson Road at about 10:45 p.m. Friday night when an officer tried to pull the car over.

According to police, the driver didn’t stop, eventually driving onto Fleming Avenue, where the officer lost sight of the car. The officer didn’t see the car again until after it crashed into the home.

Bennett was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Passengers Zachary Cofer, 20 of Bedford County, and Travis Davidson, 20 of Lynchburg, were transported to the same hospital. Their conditions weren’t released as of Saturday night.

Police said two people were inside the home, but neither was hurt.

my thoughts are with the family who’s house was struck.  it’s a shame that the house had to get damaged in this, hope they are able to get insurance money out of that guy to repair and move on.
however there is a bright side, one less person out on the roadway that endangers anyone elses life.
