Bedford County mother accused in baby’s death pleads guilty to drug charge

A mother charged in the death of her baby pleaded guilty this morning to an unrelated drug charge.

Cecilia Burnette pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia Tuesday morning in Bedford County Circuit Court.

Last month, Burnette was charged with second degree murder and felony child abuse in the September 2008 death of 8-month-old Marissa Burnette.

On the drug charge, Burnette was sentenced to 10 days in jail.  Those 10 days are suspended, but Burnette must have good behavior for one year.
