City man sentenced in witness intimidation

A Lynchburg man was sentenced to three months in jail Friday after being convicted in July of trying to intimidate a witness in the trial of a fellow gang member.
Jamall Randolph, 21, was accused of staring down witness Alonzo Clark during the Jan. 26 trial of 17-year-old Shandre Saunders.
Saunders was convicted of the 2007 shooting of Allied Cab driver Greg Powell near the intersection of Garfield Avenue and 12th Street. Saunders was sentenced to 53 years in prison.
During the trial, Clark testified he saw the boy shooting at rival gang members at the Sunoco gas station at the intersection and saw Powell grab his neck and swerve into a tree.
Randolph was accused of telling Clark “I’m gonna get you” in a hallway outside the courtroom.
Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Chuck Felmlee said Randolph and Saunders belong to the same Garfield Avenue gang.
Lynchburg Circuit Court Judge Leyburn Mosby told Randolph he had an attitude and admonished him to “get a job, straighten up.”
