Engineering course for girls at Sweet Briar College

Rising junior and senior high school girls can explore engineering in a one-week residential course for college credit offered next month at Sweet Briar College.
The course will be held on the college’s campus from Sunday, July 19 to Friday, July 24.

The cost to attend is $250, including a $100 deposit due by July 1 with the application. Meals and lodging are provided.
Up to 14 women will be selected to attend, and several need-based scholarships to cover the full cost of the course are available.
Participants will hold discussions with successful women engineers and current SBC engineering students and faculty. Classroom and lab work will explore aspects of engineering design with an emphasis on hands-on assignments.
Attendees also will learn about engineering computer tools by exploring the machine shop, aerodynamic efficiency and robotics research labs.
Students also will engage in a group competition that incorporates robotics, structural and other engineering design elements.
