Hokies United plans to hold a special remembrance ceremony for the two Virginia Tech students who were killed last week at the Caldwell Fields campground area in Montgomery County.

The ceremony for Heidi Childs and David Metzler will be tonight at 7 p.m. on the drillfield at Virginia Tech near the War Memorial Chapel.  A news release from the group says the ceremony will consist of a moment of silence and reflection.

“Last week our campus lost not only two Virginia Tech students, but two members of our Hokie Family. Whether you knew them very well or not at all, as members of this extraordinary community we have a duty to honor those who were with us all too briefly,“ Hokies United members wrote in the release.

The ceremony is open to the public.
