Lynchburg man arrested in Amherst hit and run

The Amherst County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Lynchburg man after a hit-and-run wreck in Madison Heights early Saturday morning.

The two-vehicle crash happened shortly after midnight Saturday in the Morgan Drive area of Madison Heights.

A deputy later located and arrested Christopher Lee Carwile, 35, of Park Avenue, on charges of felony hit and run, driving under the influence and driving without a driver’s license.

Carwile was released on a bond pending a preliminary hearing in Amherst County General District Court.
