Police continue investigation in Madison Heights death

The Amherst County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday released the identity of a man found dead off Lynch’s Ferry Road in Madison Heights on Sunday.

After receiving a call, police discovered the body of Jason Collin Aigeldinger, 32, of Elon around 4:50 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Aigeldinger’s parents, Charles and Rosemary Aigeldinger, said Wednesday afternoon that the last time they saw their son was on Oct. 28. He was reported missing on Nov. 1.

In a brief interview at their Elon Road home, they said don’t know what happened to him and are still waiting for answers.

Lynch’s Ferry Road, where the body was found, runs roughly parallel to South Amherst Highway (old U.S. 29) through a wooded area near the James River.

The Amherst County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death and has not said if foul play is suspected.

Officials are awaiting on a report from a state medical examiner to determine the cause of death.
