Police search for shooting suspect

Lynchburg police said Friday afternoon they are still searching for a suspect in a July 15 drive-by shooting.

The police department holds five active felony warrants for Michael Marcus Garland Jr., 18, of Taylor Street in Lynchburg.

The warrants stem from a shooting that took place on Taylor Street, in which Quincy Orlando Petty Sr. was shot in the arm.

Petty was hospitalized with injuries police said were not life-threatening.

Police described Garland as a black male, 145 pounds and 5 feet, 10 inches tall.

Garland is charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, discharging a firearm in a building and shooting from a vehicle.
