Police: Woman reports sexual assault near Wiggington Road

Lynchburg police said on Tuesday that they are looking for a man involved in an alleged sexual assault near U.S. 501 and Wiggington Road on Sunday.

According to police, a woman was walking on U.S. 501 near the intersection when a Hispanic man approached her just after 6:30 a.m.

The man is described as 5 feet, 4 inches tall with a dark complexion and long black hair.

The woman told police that he approached her, asked where she was going, then pushed her over the guardrail. Police said the man then tried to pull down her shorts.

The woman was able to escape and ran into the woods nearby with minor injuries.
