Roanoke TV station won’t air GOP ad criticizing Perriello

A Roanoke-based television station will not run an ad targeting Rep. Tom Perriello, the station’s president and manager said Thursday.

Jeffrey Marks, of WDBJ Television Inc., did not comment on the reasons why the ad will not be aired.

“I don’t characterize why an advertiser is or is not running on our air,” Marks said.

The ad, paid for by the National Republican Congressional Committee, targets Perriello’s support of the Clean Energy and Security Act, also known as the cap-and-trade bill, which was approved last week in the House of Representatives.

Perriello, D-5th District, is the only representative targeted in the ad, which claims he voted with President Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi “over and over.”

The nonpartisan political analysis Web site, http://www.factcheck.org, published an analysis critical of the ad, calling the NRCC “wrong” in the amount of money it claimed the bill would cost a family of four. The site claims the NRCC misinterpreted data from a study performed by the Heritage Foundation analysis calculating the GDP loss in 2020.

Marks said though the station did not air the ad, that should not be interpreted as an agreement with the site’s analysis of the ad.

“We didn’t say it was false or misleading. The Democratic Party may have, or Perriello may have,” he said.

“I’m not making a connection between (Perriello’s concerns) and it not running,” he added.

Why is anyone surprised by this?  The media and Periello ran a campaign of lies and promises of jobs and freebies which a Congressman, especially a freshman one, could never produce.  Periello lied all week telling constituents he was “undecided” up until the day of voting.  When I called his office, his idiotic staff wanted to tell me that the Global Warming Scam was real.  They seemed unconcerned and actually ignored all of my pleas about the jobs lost in Southside.  This Periello guy is in over his head, has no experience, and basically bought the seat with his New York lawyer money.

It’s time now for the Republicans to find a real candidate to run for this office and unseat this liberal.

Hurrah for Perriello.
Hurrah for channel 7 out of Roanoke.  Down with the bashers of Obama and Perriello.

Down with the person who is deleting posts on this forum. It is time to send emails to the managing editor.

Actually Mr. Pewty, I would consider it crass to make a statement like that.
I love the New Jersey Diners, the new York Deli’s, a good haddock fillet in the great Seafood restaurants in New England. The quaint little “local” bars with their mini breweries, the beautiful Coastlines and the Clam Chowder at Legal Seafood in Boston is unsurpassed.  That said, again, it is Arrogance and the Attempt to change us to be like New York that needs to be curbed.
Most people in the South are pretty independent and enjoy controlling our own destiny, our success and learning from failures. Most of us are not looking for a handout or What can the Government give us as we are pretty darn proud of our heritage. just as I would expect the “Yankees” to be. We just hate hearing how Ignorant we are.
Is that Understood sir?

The News & Advance has every right to not post, or delete, whatever they wish without any stated reason. The First Amendment says that the

can not make a law limiting speech, but the N & A is not the government, just like WDBJ 7 is not the government.

This country is just emerging from eight long years of the worst president in U. S. history. You match that to the corrupt and radical spending done by the so-called conservative republicans during his presidency and you have the biggest financial crisis since 1929. Why were you idiots quiet for so long and why did you just recognize the problem? Oh that’s right, mass right-wing idiocy matched with mass amnesia. Idiots all.

Logan or who ever is running this forum now, just what is going on with the deleting of posts? I know I did not write anything out of the norm, yet my post is deleted.

If who ever is doing it at least show the courtesy to e-mail me and say why.

I agree there are a lot of Ignorant Illiterates around. That was evidenced in the last Election and why we are now facing the largest deficit in history, printing money with nothing to back it up, and refusing to explore the Energy fields hat God blessed us with, but rather buy it from our enemies.
With Clinton and a Republican Congress we achieved the pinnacle of success by laying a foundation for growth and the move from Welfare to Work. With this Congress and this president we are moving everyone from work to welfare.
