Roanoke TV station won’t air GOP ad criticizing Perriello

A Roanoke-based television station will not run an ad targeting Rep. Tom Perriello, the station’s president and manager said Thursday.

Jeffrey Marks, of WDBJ Television Inc., did not comment on the reasons why the ad will not be aired.

“I don’t characterize why an advertiser is or is not running on our air,” Marks said.

The ad, paid for by the National Republican Congressional Committee, targets Perriello’s support of the Clean Energy and Security Act, also known as the cap-and-trade bill, which was approved last week in the House of Representatives.

Perriello, D-5th District, is the only representative targeted in the ad, which claims he voted with President Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi “over and over.”

The nonpartisan political analysis Web site, http://www.factcheck.org, published an analysis critical of the ad, calling the NRCC “wrong” in the amount of money it claimed the bill would cost a family of four. The site claims the NRCC misinterpreted data from a study performed by the Heritage Foundation analysis calculating the GDP loss in 2020.

Marks said though the station did not air the ad, that should not be interpreted as an agreement with the site’s analysis of the ad.

“We didn’t say it was false or misleading. The Democratic Party may have, or Perriello may have,” he said.

“I’m not making a connection between (Perriello’s concerns) and it not running,” he added.

You are correct bigjimm, the Perriello ads are not lying republican garbage; instead, they are lying Democratic garbage meant to appeal to the extreme left-wing zealots in the Charlottesville area that elected Perriello into office.

It could also be that the Perriello ads are not lying republican garbage. The new republican ads are just lies wrapped up in populist claptrap to appeal to the ignorant and mostly illiterate right-wing of the 5th district.

I notice that WDBJ Television seems to have no problem with the pro Perriello ads that have ran almost daily since he was sworn into office in January.

Self awareness is a good thing. As is noted on Peanuts, the fact that you know you have a problem indicates that you are not too far gone.

Yeah Big, I know I saw your earlier post which was only Q.E.D., then it disappeared. I was confused about what you were posting then but glad you explained the Censorship/Deleting.
But then again, that seems to be our topic in this thread, so I guess it fits.
Everyone enjoy the Fourth and be careful.

The idiots keep reinforcing their idiocy and the N & A keeps deleting posts. Just what in QED was considered to be offensive I wonder. I just think they thought it was code for something liberal maybe. Idiots all.

Well Big, I assume I am one of those idiots and confess I do watch Fox news as by the way, do more people than the other “News” channels combined. I Am an idiot I suppose because: I believe that we are sitting on enough oil to be independent until all the alternate sources of energy can be brought to the marketplace and should explore all sources , believe that we should not triple our National debt as has been done, believe that the collapse of our economy was caused in a major part by the 2006 elections where people such as Barney Frank and Chris Dodd protected the Fannie Mae’s and Freddie Mac’s for personal reasons when they were warned they were in trouble, believe that you cannot spend your way out of debt, believe that things such as the AIG fiasco could have been averted by reading the Bill before passing it and believe a measured spending, based on success of job Creation and savings should be applied according to what works and finally because I don’t view the president as the Great messiah
The mainstream media has been in the tank for this administration from the beginning, I take some refuge though when I saw even Helen Thomas question them on their lack of candor, pre-screening questions so that only rehearsed answers could be given.
I have seen their attacks on any one with the audacity to question their wisdom. Their talk of the Fairness Doctrine, i.e., Free Speech, makes me think the 1st Amendment is a target for elimination and then their Anti Gun stance and backdoor attempts to eliminate the 2nd Amendment will be next.

Reminds me of the Book by George Orwell, “Animal Farm” where 1 by 1 the elimination of freedoms occurred.

Consider the source. Nobody watches WDBJ or CBS anyway.

It`s sad when you can`t get fair and unbiased reporting on local tv stations.WDBJ-7 wont have to ever worry about me watching anything they show from this day on. I`ll get my fair and unbiased news from Fox News.Thank you News and Advance for exposing WDBJ-7 for what they really are.
