Perriello betrrayed district in energy vote
I was very disappointed in Rep. Tom Perriello’s betrayal of the people in the Fifth District by casting a vote that will raise everyone’s energy costs, send production jobs overseas and provide more federal control over our lives. With our adopting these restrictions on industry in the face of a recession and trade deficit with non-conforming countries is beyond comprehension. He and his colleagues could not have designed a better way to destroy our country.
I watched the debate about HR 2454 on C-SPAN. Congress’ betrayal of trust has made June 26 a day of mourning for America.
I was particularly troubled in the stance taken against the common-sense proposal by Rep. Randy Forbes of Virginia, which would have done more to protect the environment by all accounts with no raising of taxes than the massive power grab Perriello supported. It provided incentives for clean technology, provided for drilling so that we could be energy-independent, provided for the use of solar, wind, hydro and nuclear generation of energy to support our industries.
The fact that much of the bill was unread by anyone as the 309-page amendment was submitted at 3:09 a.m. and not even integrated for review while the vote was being cast is an abomination to what this country once stood for. Yes, I know that Speaker Nancy Pelosi had a plane to catch, but for heaven’s sake, couldn’t the vote be delayed until everyone could read it and discuss it with their constituents?
Representatives who represent their districts as well as the people of the United States, not just the House political leadership, should at least know what you are voting for. There is no way you, or anyone else could. Blindly following the leadership is a true sign of weakness.
One representative, speaking against the bill, said this is a choice between liberty and tyranny. Sadly, unlike the great patriot Patrick Henry, who is buried a short distance from my home and who chose liberty, Rep. Perriello did not.

Not newsworthy
I was really shocked to see the June 26 front page of The News & Advance with nothing but the death of Michael Jackson. I don’t believe you would have put that much on the front page if someone really important had died.
Surely there were more important stories for the front page. Not only was it on the front page for one day — but two. Think about what is really newsworthy for the front page.

1) Oldman I see you’re still obsessed with Micheal Jackson, but the question remains. When did you stop being a child molester?
2) I find it very difficult to comprehend the low level of intellignce it takes to ridicule anyone for wanting to clean up the environment and air quality.
So if you campaign against the guy that wants clean air, what’s left? You going to champion the cause of the guy that wants to keep polluting the environment?
Perrielo is right and I’m glad he has enough fortitude to vote what is right and not listen to those so ignorant they would actully argue against cleaning up the air.
For someone who still has comprehanded the difference between a democracy and a republic it’s easy to see why they would have a problem reading the editorial letter concerning clean air that they referenced. For example the letter states the “The state will require the companies to come up with new ways to reduce air pollution.“ I guess they think Goode and Goodlatte are state legislatures. Or perhaps Periello votes for a state bill.
cosmo, it was always said here that you cannot remember anything and you just proved you do not remember yesterdays letters. If you could, you would have known they wrote about Goode and Goodlathe. Did you also forget that your namesake Goode filed to explore running in 2010? Darn you just seem to show your ignorance. You are proving you have less sense then Sarah “Drill Baby Drill”.
oldman66 did you get tired of playing with little boys? Now you are proving again that you did not care for Jackson’s music, but why did you follow his little boy lessons. Seems you did care for something about Jackson.
yup, obsessed, knows to the pound, what he weighs! Sad, really.
FakeCosmo,
Do you think Obama should have pulled the troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan the moment he was President (I was hopping he would)?
What would your friends Cheney, Rush, Sean, Ann, Glenn, etc. have said?
Gordie: Ah, the N&A finally published an editorial you approve. What do they care what “clea
n air” costs; the price of a paper will just go up. Eventually a charge will more than likely be leveled on the internet nonsense here. Can’t you ignoramouses figure anything out?
vttova: You missed the boat Yankee; if “Jocko” had depended on me to “appreciate” his music?? or buy it he wouldn’t have weighed 112 lbs; he’d have starved to death years ago. That ought to clear up any misconceptions you had about my thoughts on the freak.
Thanks for the suggestion art, not a big fan of electro shock therapy, look and feel icky in dresses, as for trbc, yeah, right, I’ll leave that to fred.
gosh, the old man is obsessed with michael jackson.
Fred,
I don’t know what they thought and I really don’t care. I thought Bush was terrible as president. I didn’t think much of him spending all of that money overseas. What do you think about obama expanding operations in Afghanistan and even into Pakistan? 156 American Soldiers have died since 1-20-09. What have you done about that? Every death in Pakistan was a civilian since we have not declared war there, what have you done about that?
Who the heck woke Fred at 10:26 A.M? Where’s he been, gigging?
Seriously youse guys, I need information. Could I impose on you wordly pundits to aid me? 1. Is the little f - - t in North Korea in mourning for “Jocko”, does he still plan on sending us a rocket on the 4th, and where’s the ship that everyone was concerned about? The little c - - - k concerns me; he’s too quiet.
Unemployment at 9.5%. Does the Kenyan via Hawaii think that all “big” numbers are good. Is that what is taught at Harvard and Yale? Somebody needs to turn this guy’s train around; he’s heading for a train wreck. I think he had a practice run in D.C. just the other day.
Any of youse guys invited to the funeral? I see that one of “Jocko’s” brothers has issued a statement that he wished he’d been the one that died. Well, Bro what’s stopping you? Reports were out that needles were everywhere. Grab one.
Hopefully one or several of you “know-it-alls” can help me and I won’t have to wait for Hannity, The Factor or Beck with the answers tonight.
