Perriello betrrayed district in energy vote
I was very disappointed in Rep. Tom Perriello’s betrayal of the people in the Fifth District by casting a vote that will raise everyone’s energy costs, send production jobs overseas and provide more federal control over our lives. With our adopting these restrictions on industry in the face of a recession and trade deficit with non-conforming countries is beyond comprehension. He and his colleagues could not have designed a better way to destroy our country.

I watched the debate about HR 2454 on C-SPAN. Congress’ betrayal of trust has made June 26 a day of mourning for America.

I was particularly troubled in the stance taken against the common-sense proposal by Rep. Randy Forbes of Virginia, which would have done more to protect the environment by all accounts with no raising of taxes than the massive power grab Perriello supported. It provided incentives for clean technology, provided for drilling so that we could be energy-independent, provided for the use of solar, wind, hydro and nuclear generation of energy to support our industries.

The fact that much of the bill was unread by anyone as the 309-page amendment was submitted at 3:09 a.m. and not even integrated for review while the vote was being cast is an abomination to what this country once stood for. Yes, I know that Speaker Nancy Pelosi had a plane to catch, but for heaven’s sake, couldn’t the vote be delayed until everyone could read it and discuss it with their constituents?

Representatives who represent their districts as well as the people of the United States, not just the House political leadership, should at least know what you are voting for. There is no way you, or anyone else could. Blindly following the leadership is a true sign of weakness.

One representative, speaking against the bill, said this is a choice between liberty and tyranny. Sadly, unlike the great patriot Patrick Henry, who is buried a short distance from my home and who chose liberty, Rep. Perriello did not.

Not newsworthy

I was really shocked to see the June 26 front page of The News & Advance with nothing but the death of Michael Jackson. I don’t believe you would have put that much on the front page if someone really important had died.

Surely there were more important stories for the front page. Not only was it on the front page for one day — but two. Think about what is really newsworthy for the front page.

Oh, the CURE?

1.  High voltage shock therapy.
2.  An entire wardrobe of dresses that are too long.
3.  A front row seat at Thomas Road Baptist Church.

          (hope that helps)

art, along with the comedy gene that you have, I and, I guess, not you, have another genetic defect.
I possess the 69-333ab chromasone that leads me to believe that deep down inside EVERYONE wants to do the right thing. I have yet to find a cure.

I’ll make an exception and reply to the fake one.
YOU WATCHED THAT AND DIDN’T THINK MUCH OF IT??????????
Beck nodding while this idiot advocates a terrorist attack to “save this country”
How anyone could watch that and not be mortified is beyond me.
btw, i didn’t say what religion the nodder was, i was talking about the typical repub., esp around here!
Add that to the family values, a desire to have your fellow citizen incinerated to take back power.

—-“We voted for Obama…“——

Da ha ha ha!  Sure you did.

Mrs. Vttova, why does this come as a shock to you?  YOU LIVE HERE!

FakeCosmo,

I do not remember you lamenting the couple trillion dollars wasted in Iraq and Afghanistan, not to mention the hundreds of thousands lives lost.

By the way, you still have not answered my question:

“What did Levin, Beck and Morris think of Bush’s performance in office?“

Do not recommend a book when you don’t even know anything about the author.

gordie,

I don’t think Goode is in congress anymore?  Did something change?

I just watched it on YouTube.  I didn’t get a “us vs. them” take on it.  He was saying ‘all politicians’ and talking about the corruption in DC and what it would take to get people outraged over the perversion of our government.  Beck is far from an evangelical, he claims to be a catholic.  Takes his orders from a grilled cheese sandwich, but still one of the best commentators on tv.  I don’t think most liberals understand that the vast portion of America was ticked off at Bush over his liberal policies and spending.  We voted for Obama after he promised ‘change’ and a tax cut.  Neither have happened.  Obama is virtually GW Bush on steroids with his spending.  For true independants, Obama is going down in the polls like a rock.  But his hubris makes GWBs look like a 3 year old begging for a cookie.

Has anyone bothered, other then Arthur, to read todays editorial, Another Step to Cleaner Air for Virginia.

Does anyone realize that that editorial just squashed the the July 1 and July 2 letters about Perriello and his vote for energy and clean air. Just made Goode and Goodlathe look like fools who want to live in the past. Does not anyone realize that Goode and Goodlathe were dreamers who believed that all busness people are honest and no laws had to be written to protect the public from such business decisions.

Virginia actually can be thankful that its polution blows out into the Atlantic and will not reach other countries that would sue Virginia for acid rain and the like.

It is really difficult to understand how so many people can live in the dark ages and like it.

yes, art, they might say the same to us about rachel maddow, thats not the point!
These guys are actually hoping for a terrorist attack! Just because they think that would win them back power!
That really frightens me, and twists my head around, that the evangelical party of family values, wants a bunch of us to die so they can take back over!
Wow, evil does come in pretty packages.

It was “Glen Beck” Mrs. Vttova.

Soupy Sales had more political credibility!  ...and was far more informed.
