Perriello betrrayed district in energy vote
I was very disappointed in Rep. Tom Perriello’s betrayal of the people in the Fifth District by casting a vote that will raise everyone’s energy costs, send production jobs overseas and provide more federal control over our lives. With our adopting these restrictions on industry in the face of a recession and trade deficit with non-conforming countries is beyond comprehension. He and his colleagues could not have designed a better way to destroy our country.
I watched the debate about HR 2454 on C-SPAN. Congress’ betrayal of trust has made June 26 a day of mourning for America.
I was particularly troubled in the stance taken against the common-sense proposal by Rep. Randy Forbes of Virginia, which would have done more to protect the environment by all accounts with no raising of taxes than the massive power grab Perriello supported. It provided incentives for clean technology, provided for drilling so that we could be energy-independent, provided for the use of solar, wind, hydro and nuclear generation of energy to support our industries.
The fact that much of the bill was unread by anyone as the 309-page amendment was submitted at 3:09 a.m. and not even integrated for review while the vote was being cast is an abomination to what this country once stood for. Yes, I know that Speaker Nancy Pelosi had a plane to catch, but for heaven’s sake, couldn’t the vote be delayed until everyone could read it and discuss it with their constituents?
Representatives who represent their districts as well as the people of the United States, not just the House political leadership, should at least know what you are voting for. There is no way you, or anyone else could. Blindly following the leadership is a true sign of weakness.
One representative, speaking against the bill, said this is a choice between liberty and tyranny. Sadly, unlike the great patriot Patrick Henry, who is buried a short distance from my home and who chose liberty, Rep. Perriello did not.

Not newsworthy
I was really shocked to see the June 26 front page of The News & Advance with nothing but the death of Michael Jackson. I don’t believe you would have put that much on the front page if someone really important had died.
Surely there were more important stories for the front page. Not only was it on the front page for one day — but two. Think about what is really newsworthy for the front page.

Unemployment rate is now 9.5%. Obama promised that if we passed the stimulus bill the unemployment rate would go over 8%.
Was he naive or stupid?
$1.8 Trillion in deficit spending. What did we get for our money? And he’s talking light bulbs!
Is this a great country or what?
I can’t believe none of my libs have said a peep about the glen beck guest saying what the USA needs is an attack from bin laden.
My goodness, if we had said anything close to that while bush was in office, we’d still be in gitmo getting bathed!
I’m sure Joyce is please as punch when Falwell inc is on the front page!
Day after day, week after week.
Go 100 miles in any direction Joyce and ask who Michael Jackson is, now go 10,000 miles and ask.
NOW do the same for jerry and the boys!
Something on the News and Advance’s front page being “news worthy”, now that’s comedy.
Question - Who was the first liberal Democrat?
Answer -Christopher Columbus. He left not knowing where he was going, got there not knowing where he was, left there not knowing where he’d been and did it all on borrowed money.
1 Kool Aid Drinker down, 4 to go. It appears that Mr. KAD is fine with giving up his independance for a little safety. Nothing wrong with helping out the poor, the down-trodden, or those less fortunate than us. It is the decent, humane thing to do. What I have a problem with is being forced into ‘donating’ so much of our hard earned money to government bureacrats so that they can live high on the hog while “helping” the poor. Anyone ever wonder why so many politicians in DC are millionaires? They become millionaires while bilking the taxpayers. Has Al Gore given up his private jet, 4 limosines and 22,000 square foot home due to “climate change”? I thought not. Periello fell into the trap and will soon be living on our tax dollars to the biggest extent possible. After all, he has become Pelosis lap dog.
I’m glad to be able to help you out Mr. Oldman66.
The way I figure it, I’m going to be dead a LONG time. I want the best life I can possibly have while I’m still this side of the dirt. My definition does not, of course, include having other people pay my way. I have always done that myself. A sense of shame was still in fashion when I was a lad. We had no Prozac. I have also not sang the blues for being asked to help out those less fortunate than myself with my tax money.
Should the time come, and I hope it doesn’t, that I need a little helping hand in return… it sure will be nice to have. That’s why I choose civilization in the first place.
I think a lot of people forget some important things. Especially the “Conservatives” who go on and on about The Constitution this and our Founding Fathers that. When those guys were alive and wrote the thing land was FREE. Of course you needed a gun! Without a right to own guns how the hell could the latest boatload of some despised European immigrant group be expected to “Go West” and kill the savages?
In case nobody has noticed (attention Conservatives) things have changed. NOTHING is free, banks and insurance companies own all the land and the only rights you have are the rights to pick what corporations you want to be an indentured servant to.
I mean, Thomas Jefferson figured The Pacific Ocean was a tad west of Highland County for Pete’s sake. They were all full of crap anyway. Oh yea, EVERYBODY is created equal, right. Except for poor people and black people who were self replicating machinery.
You want to go back to those days build yourself a time machine and take off.
(Where is that music I asked for?)
Another fine letter against Periello. Periello doesn’t represent us. He voted for the biggest tax increase in history and didn’t even read it before he voted on it. Pelosis’ lap dog. We need a representative that will stand up for us. The Cap and Trade bill was nothing more than a power grab by the liberals. The only people to support it are the Kool-Aid drinkers.
Who is his opponent going to be next year? I would like to contribute the max.
Artie: You prove my point. You liberals are never satisfied; always wanting more; at taxpayer expense of course.
Is there any way the N&A could provide music when I read Mr. Oldman66’s posts? Just his.
I mean we all have to look at jiggly stomachs, pop-up, (out and in) advertising, that Charlotte Mom who lost 47lbs Following one rule (which I assume was to stop eating like a friggin hog) and Carl, who wants us to “Crunch More” Wheat Thins. Couldn’t the N&A, with all that technology at their disposal, provide violin music or the soundtrack of some Merry Melody Cartoons with his posts? I mean, it would make things a whole lot better for your readers.
I tried to warn you “chumps” about the likes of Webb, Warner and what’s his face? The guy with the funny name. But oh no, you wanted change. Well guess what; you’re getting it, but at what price and can you afford it? One thing for sure - Virgil Goode nor Jim Gilmore would have voted for a freakin’ 787 trillion dollar stimulus package or some ridiculous scheme to “clean up the air” that no one can put a price tag on. Youse “fruitcakes” no doubt were absent the day brains were issued.
By the way, the other day when I went golfing some of you tried to do a job on me on the posts here. I will respond in kind soon. Most of you don’t want to get into a battle of wits with me because you’re unarmed. Have a good day all.
Is this enough zeros for youse guys?
