DRY FORK — Jessi Chandler trucked around the bases for an unusual triple shortly after Brookville tied the game in the sixth inning, punctuating a contest filled with wild momentum swings by slapping a grounder up the middle that caught a lip in the field and took an extreme leap over the center fielder’s head before rolling to the fence.

Brookville’s Epperson digging deep for Group AA state title
Carpe diem.
Brookville senior Andrew Epperson had the Latin motivational phrase, which translates “Seize the day,” tattooed on his right biceps on New Year’s Eve Day.
He will try to live it out tonight on the first day of competition in the Group AA state track and field championships at Harrisonburg High, where he is seeded first by a full foot in the pole vault.

DeFilippo pitches Bees past Stuarts Draft
STUARTS DRAFT — Facing the Seminole District’s Pitcher of the Year was bad enough for the upstart Stuarts Draft softball team.
Committing two first-inning errors to spot Brookville’s Nicole DeFilippo a 3-0 lead before she even sniffed the circle was worse.
The bats falling asleep? That just sealed the Cougars’ fate as they could only muster three hits en route to a 7-1 loss to the Bees in the Region III quarterfinal round.

“He did everything for us, to some degree,” coach Chris Young said. “He was a game-changer, a kid who could take over a game.”

Now, they’re among the veterans of a Brookville baseball team brimming with potential.

They’re excited, full of en-ergy, and hopefully we can come out, execute our game plan and get a W.“

Bees slow down Cavaliers, reach Region III, Division 3, final

Glaize, a Bees assistant coach, was the starting point guard for Brookville’s state playoff team in 1988, which before Friday night was the last year the Bees made the playoffs.
They clinched their second state playoff appearance with a 46-38 win over visiting Lord Botetourt on Friday.
