Labor Dept.: Virginia’s jobless rate falls in October from September
Virginia’s unemployment rate for October fell to 6.3 percent from 6.5 percent in September, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

UPDATE: $3.5 billion shortfall means local governments will feel the pinch

Virginia may need to cut another $300 million from two-year budget
The state of Virginia, which already has had to cut $6 billion from the two-year budget ending June 30, 2010, may have to cut $250 million to $300 million, the House Appropriations Committee was told today.

White House says stimulus saved or created 650,000 jobs
About 650,000 jobs have been saved or created under President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus plan, the White House said Friday, saying it is on track to reach the president’s goal of 3.5 million jobs by the end of next year.
