Lynchburg City Councilman Scott Garrett won the Republican nomination Tuesday night to run for the House of Delegates against incumbent Del. Shannon Valentine.

At 5.9 percent, voter turnout in Lynchburg is slightly higher in today’s primaries so far than the surrounding counties’. Polls opened at 6 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m.

At least $130,000 has been raised by Lynchburg’s two candidates for the Republican nomination for the House of Delegates, a race that will be decided in tomorrow’s primary election.
