Brookville set to host rival Heritage
When Brookville and Heritage staged a Week 10 high school football showdown last fall, the Bees were decided underdogs against the undefeated Pioneers, who lost three of their final four games, starting with a 28-21 upset by Brookville at City Stadium.
Tonight, the roles are reversed as it’s the Bees who are unbeaten at 9-0, ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press Group AA state poll and no worse than a No. 2 seed going into the Region III, Division 3, playoffs, while the Pioneers (3-5) are battling for a postseason berth in Region III, Division 4.

Big Orange Classic coming to Heritage
About 250 students from 14 different schools will compete in the Big Orange Classic Drill and Rifle Competition at Heritage High School on Saturday.

Heritage surges past Staunton River, 40-3
The first half wasn’t pretty, but Heritage exploded for 27 unanswered points in the second half and cruised past Staunton River, 40-3, Saturday at City Stadium, snapping a five-game losing streak.

Minutemen exact revenge on Pioneers
BEDFORD — Three Heritage turnovers in a five-minute period spanning the third and fourth quarters turned the tide in Liberty’s favor in a Seminole District football showdown Friday night.
A fourth four minutes later — Boo Payne’s interception returned 60 yards for a touchdown — put the Minutemen in complete control and they went on to pummel the Pioneers 32-14, payback for a 35-0 loss last fall.

Heritage edges Rustburg
RUSTBURG — Heritage showed its youth on Friday in a hard-fought 12-7 victory over Rustburg.
The Pioneers, who return just one starter on offense and five on defense, committed 13 penalties and fumbled five times, losing two, but still managed to grind out a win in the season opener for both teams.
