News and notes from the first day of Liberty’s fall football camp

Football practice in July? Well, for one day at least. Liberty opens its fall training camp Thursday at Williams Stadium.

Some quick-hit news and notes from the Big South football media day at the Marriott Renaissance Suites, just as soon as I get those crazy kids from Vector Marketing to stop chanting “Ole! Ole! Ole! Ol-e! Oh-le! Oh-le!” …

The field at the Big South Conference’s annual summer golf outing was a bit larger than usual Thursday. The event is generally a precursor to the conference’s football rouser, which is set for Friday afternoon. But with the league celebrating its 25th anniversary this upcoming school season, coaches and administrators from the Big South’s non-football schools (Radford, High Point, Winthrop and UNC Asheville) teed it up at Birkdale Golf Club in Huntersville alongside the usual bunch from the football schools.

Last year, the sports staff at the News & Advance dabbled a bit in the blog, using a wonderful template provided by the fine people at Wordpress. That was before the redesign of our Web site. With the site overhauled, we were able to move the blog to the N&A site, so you can read entries as you surf through the stories on our site. Seems much more user friendly, no?
