Gretna’s football team finished tied with Clarke County with 24.2 points in the final VHSL power ratings for Region B, Division 2, after Monday’s rain-delayed makeup games. But the Eagles (10-0) received the No. 1 seed by virtue of their perfect record, bumping the two-time defending Group A champion Hawks (8-2) to No. 2.

Instead of entertaining fourth-seeded Appomattox in Saturday’s Region B, Division 2, semifinals, as was reported on Tuesday, Gretna will host third-seeded Buckingham (10-0) at 1 p.m. Appomattox (8-2), meanwhile, must travel to Clarke County (10-0) near Winchester for its 1:30 p.m. semifinal.

In Region III, Division 3, Liberty (9-1) received the No. 1 seed over Northside (8-2) by the same tie-breaking rule — winning percentage — after both totaled 26.4 points in the final power ratings. Both received first-round byes and the Minutemen will host No. 4 Robert E. Lee, a winner over Stuarts Draft, in one semifinal, Friday at 7:30 p.m., while No. 2 Northside hosts No. 3 Brookville, which rallied past Alleghany, in the other.

Amherst (10-0, 29.0), rated second in the state among Division 4 schools behind Region IV power Salem (10-0, 32.2), hosts Spotswood (9-2) in a Region III, Div. 4, semifinal Friday at 7 p.m.

In Region B, Div. 1, Altavista (9-1) also lost its No. 1 rating despite winning its final regular-season game over Nelson County (2-8). Riverheads (9-1, 22.7) moved up from No. 2 with its win over Buffalo Gap (6-4), which gave it more rider points. Altavista, seeded second at 22.6, will host third-seeded Madison County (9-1) on Friday at 7 p.m. while Riverheads gets a first-round rematch with the fourth-seeded Bison.
