Lynchburg pitchers Jeff Locke and Ronald Uviedo combined to shut out Salem as the Hillcats claimed a 1-0 victory Sunday at City Stadium.

The Cats (28-41, 73-65) seized the lead with a run in the bottom of the first as Jordy Mercer drove in Chase d’Arnaud with a sacrifice fly — the game’s only run.

Locke did not allow a run in 6 2/3 innings of work, tossed three 1-2-3 innings and struck out six Salem batters.
