Beardsley headlines Virginia Ten Miler pre-race festivities
Marathon runner Dick Beardsley’s life story reads like fiction, because it’s almost beyond belief.
The guest of honor for this weekend’s 36th annual Virginia Ten Miler will share his testimony of fame and misfortune tonight at 8:30, capping pre-race festivities at E.C. Glass High School, where he also plans to start Saturday morning’s race at 8.
LC’s Weir closes in on career Division III scoring mark
This weekend, when Lynchburg College’s field hockey team hosts St. Mary’s on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Wesley College on Sunday at 1 p.m., Hornets senior attack Allie Weir will be closing in on the Division III mark for career goals.
Weir scored an even 100 goals through her first three years and has scored 13 goals in eight games this season. Bates College’s Priscilla Wilde currently holds the record, having scored 120 goals from 1973-76.
