Halftime blogging from the JPJA
Published: February 18, 2009
Hey there. Blogging live at halftime in Charlottesville. Hoos lead the Hokies 39-37, thanks to a 10-0 run to end the half.
Virginia held Virginia Tech without a field goal in the final 4:57. Lethargic doesn’t begin to describe the Hokies right now.
Point guard Malcolm Delaney has five points and four turnovers. A.D. Vassallo has a team-high 11 points, but he has missed six field goals.
Virginia’s Tunji Soriye is on pace for a career game. He had six points in the final four minutes. His season high is eight, and his career high – against Fordham in 2005 – was 12.
Tech is holding its own inside, though it missed a lot of point-blank shots in the paint. The Hokies have a 19-17 rebounding edge, even without Jeff Allen, who is sitting on the bench in jeans and a black fleece jacket.
Cheick Diakite has a team-high five rebounds for the Hokies.
