My experience is when someone wants to commit a violent act against another person, they will find a way. Countries that have prohibited firearms have not necessarily seen a reduction in violent crimes. However there are fewer actual killings. As obviously it easier to kill with a gun. That said, i dont support prohibition.

I do think though, that all efforts should be made to elliminate illegal weapons sales, as illegal weapons are in an extremely high precentage of crimes envolving guns. The precentage of legal guns owners who end up commiting a violent act with their weapon is so small it doesnt warrant taking away everyones rights over it. In my opinion.

A good screening process and registration system, and proper follow up policing when “warning signs” are given that someone is having mental health and or emotional problems, would stop a vast majority of those crimes! How many times has a shooter given off warning signs? Too many. Thats the kind of action that legislators should be taking, so authorities have a mandate to respond pro actively, instead of after the fact.

Criminals use illegally obtained weapons! And thats where efforts should be pointed to prevent that. That said, i hope the person responsible for this is caught and justice served soon. And my condolences to the families of the victims, regardless of the circumstances surrounding their deaths. No one deserves to die. Obviously that means I dont support the death penalty, even for the person responsible for these killings. Thats letting them off the hook in my opinion.
