Not sure who the idiot was who said Liberty linebacker Mike Connolly was out for six weeks with a knee injury ... oh, wait, that was me. Sorry for that mistake folks. It's not like Connolly and Kyle O'Donnell look alike, either.
I spoke with Flames coach Danny Rocco at practice today, and he said O'Donnell would undergo an MRI this evening to determine the extent of the damange in his knee, which was hurt in practice Tuesday. Rocco said O'Donnell will be out, "best-case scenario, four to six weeks."
That further decimates a linebacking corps still hurting from the loss of reserve linebacker Pierre Tinsley, who is recovering from knee surgery. Chad Brown has stepped into O'Donnell's role, and there's some talk of moving Connolly to the inside to work there. Pat Parziale could see some time at inside linebacker as well.
Rocco said he did think of moving Pat Bannon back to the inside, but he feels Bannon is just hitting his stride on the outside.
One other note: TB Wes Cheek had his knee scoped to repair his meniscus, and Rocco expects Cheek back in three weeks.
