»  Comments | Post a Comment

Game time has arrived as teams shift practice from training camp mode to game-prep mode. Reporters do the same thing, as we're probably as sick of writing about practice as the players are going through training camp. New season. New storylines. Fresh material each week. First, let's set the game schedule for the Big South's teams:

Gardner-Webb at Tennessee Tech, 8 p.m.
TV: None.

SATURDAY

TV: Big Ten Network.

Colgate at Stony Brook, 6 p.m.
TV: Big South Edge (online)

North Greenville at Liberty, 7 p.m.

Now on to the links:

CHARLESTON SOUTHERN: The AP is reporting that Miami has suspended seven players for the opener against CSU, including starting quarterback Robert Marve.

The Post & Courier's David Shelton writes that Jay Mills is having a lot of fun coaching the Bucs.

Good timing played a key role in Dee Brown's emergence as CSU's top receiver, Shelton writes.

The P&C previews the Big South here, though I have no idea who Jim Rocco is.

The State in Columbia previews the Bucs here.

COASTAL CAROLINA: David Bennett still has not named a quarterback for the opener at Penn State, Travis Sawchik writes.

Some good nuggets in this Sawchik notebook, including items on a potential transfer from South Carolina that fell through and a note that tailback Jamie Fordham is dealing with some academic problems.

According to the Florence Morning News' Chris Fischer, Zach MacDowell doesn't care who starts at Penn State.

The State's Patrick Obley previews the Chants' season here.

A Coastal player finds himself in trouble, the Sun News reports.

PRESBYTERIAN: According to the State, the Blue Hose have high expectations.

The State's Obley notes PC has bulked up for the 2008 season.

VMI: The Roanoke Times' Katrina Waugh previews the Keydets here.
