ACHIEVEMENTS

Bedford

-Thomas Jefferson Elementary School student Maddie Stinnett earned a savings bond for winning her school’s Alliance for Family and Children essay contest.

-Dec. 16: PTA Holiday Sing-along, 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Event includes card-making for U.S. soldiers, a student art sale and refreshments.

-Dec. 17: Principal’s Coffee, 8:30 a.m.

-TJES is collecting new board games for the Bedford Community Christmas Station and toys for Toys for Tots. Drop boxes are located in the main hallway for the Christmas Station and near classrooms for Toys for Tots.

Forest Middle School

-Dec. 9: Choral Christmas Concert, 7 p.m.

-Dec. 11: Holiday Band Concert, 7 p.m. at JFHS

Lynchburg

Perrymont Elementary School

Private Schools

Appomattox Christian Academy

-Dec. 13: Santa’s Workshop, ‘Make & Take’ craft workshop for kids ages 4-12, 9 to 11 a.m. Each child makes five crafts. Cost is $10 per child. Pictures with Santa, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Event is free to the public and includes refreshments, stories and games.

-Dec. 17: Field trip for all students to U.S. Army Quartermaster Museum and U.S. Army Women’s Museum. Students and chaperones must bring bag lunch.

Blue Ridge Sudbury School

-Dec. 12: Parent Information Session and Discussion, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Forest Public Library. Meeting is for families interested in the Sudbury model of education. Children are welcome. For more information, contact Trudy Phillips, administrator, 426-1866.

New Covenant Schools

-Dec.9: ‘The Annual Service of Lessons and Carols,’ featuring the choir, band and strings ensemble, 7 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 200 Boston Ave. Childcare provided for children under age five. (Rehearsal at 8 a.m. on Dec. 9)

-Through Dec. 19: Tickets are on sale for Panache’s dinner theatre productions of ‘The Princess and the Pea’ to be held at 6 p.m. on Jan. 16 and 17. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children. Meat and vegetarian dinner options are available. To purchase tickets and choose dinner selections, come by the school office or call 434-847-8313.
