Bedford police to check child seats

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Police will conduct a free child safety seat check starting at 3 p.m. Friday at the Bedford Wal-Mart.

Officers will also be on the scene to educate drivers about the risks of driving distractions, like text messaging and talking on cell phones.

The event lasts until 7 p.m.
Driving distractions caused more than 5 percent of all injuries on the road in Virginia in 2006, according to Bedford Police.

The event, sponsored by the City of Bedford Police Department and the Bedford Wal-Mart Supercenter, is being held in association with National Safety Month.

For more information, residents can contact the Bedford Police Department at (540) 586-6011.
