A deadly crash is blocking Route 24 in Bedford County, near Staunton River High School.
Firefighters with the Moneta Fire Department said one person died in the crash.
Firefighters believe the driver of a pick-up truck ran off the road and hit a tree.
VDOT says all lanes of Virginia 24 are closed, about eight miles east of Roanoke.
The accident scene is between Virginia 608 (Emmaus Church Road) and Virginia 749 (Meads Spur Road).
