Lynchburg teen charged in shooting 17-year-old

A 16-year-old was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged in the shooting of another teenager, police said.
The Lynchburg teenager was charged with malicious wounding and using a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to a news release. The teenager is being held in the Lynchburg Juvenile Detention Facility.
The charges stem from a 17-year-old that was found shot in the arm and abdomen Wednesday night.
The Lynchburg Police Department went to Gilmore Circle and found the teenager with a gunshot wound to the left arm and abdomen. The teen told police that he was walking in the 2100 block of Florida Avenue when he heard several gunshots and ran. He later discovered that he had been shot.
The teenager was treated and released from Lynchburg General Hospital.
