Campbell County registrar Karen Danos confirms today that Phyllis Campbell was re-elected mayor of Brookneal Tuesday.

Also elected to Brookneal Town Council were Richard Adams, James Nowlin and Phillip Sheppard. Adams and Nowlin were incumbents.

The vote count for the election wasn't confirmed until the Campbell County electoral board finished canvassing the votes Thursday.

Campbell was unopposed on the ballot for mayor, and received 336 votes, Danos said.

There were 49 write-in votes for mayor, but they were scattered among a few people, Danos said.

Danos said some of the town election's numbers were wrong in the results phoned in from one precinct Tuesday night. The outcome wasn't resolved until the canvass was completed Thursday.
