Bedford County man's charges reduced

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Bedford County man initially accused of using a computer to solicit sex with a minor and attempted indecent liberties with a minor pleaded guilty to two counts of distributing obscene material Tuesday.

The first obscene material charge is a misdemeanor. The second is a felony.

Bedford Commonwealth’s Attorney Randy Krantz said the charges against Ryan Adrian Overstreet were reduced because the circumstances suggested “sexual exploration as opposed to exploitation.”

Krantz said a sex offender evaluation rated Overstreet as a low risk.

Overstreet was sentenced to five years in prison, but his sentence was suspended by Bedford County Circuit Court Judge James Updike.

He will be on supervised probation for three years.
