Naomi Ashcroft holds her kitten, Mia, while a prayer was said by chaplain of New Covenant School Bart Martin, on Friday in Lynchburg. Students brought in pets, ranging from hermit crabs to snakes and dogs, to be blessed in honor of the Feast of St. Francis. The prayer offered was for long lives for the pets and to be able to teach the children how to care for them.
