Madison Heights wreck sends six to hospital

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Madison Heights wreck late Friday night sent six people to the hospital, at least two with serious injuries, according to Virginia State Police.

Trooper D.E. Ferrell said sometime after 10 p.m. Friday, Laiquita Horsley, of Lynchburg, driving west on Riverview Road parallel to Virginia 210, overcorrected and ran her Nissan Maxima off the side of the road, striking several trees.

Ferrell said several of the passengers were juveniles, including the two whose injuries he classified as “serious to critical.”

All six were taken to Lynchburg General Hospital, and he said he didn’t know the condition of any of the victims.

Horsley, Ferrell said, came into a left curve, crossed the center line, overcorrected and crossed back to the right side of the road, ran off the shoulder and struck the trees.

The accident is under investigation, but Ferrell said he had ruled out drugs and alcohol.

Any charges will be filed when the investigation is finished, he said.
