Central Virginia Community College recently was honored for its “Grow Your Own” nuclear technologies program when it received the 2008 Exemplary Workforce Program Award from the National Council for Continuing Education and Training.
Sally Winship, president of the council, presented the award at the organization’s national convention in Cleveland, Ohio, on Oct. 6.
Stan Shoun, CVCC’s vice president of workforce development, accepted the award, which is given annually to college workforce programs that excel in both training and education.
“Grow Your Own” was developed in collaboration with area energy companies to create career path pipelines, which extend from middle school through graduate education.
