Quick hitters at halftime:
* Brock Smith told me Tuesday that the Flames wouldn't miss a beat without Rashad Jennings in the game, but I have to disagree. Zach Terrell is really struggling to pound the ball up the middle against a fairly stout Glenville State defensive line. I thought B.J. Hayes would see more touches, but with the inside run game stalling, getting the outside run game going hasn't been easy.
* Smith has two first-half interceptions, and neither were entirely his fault. Tight end Corey Rasberry ran a poor route on the first one and didn't turn to look for the ball until it was already in the air. He had to make a mid-air adjustment, and the ball went through his hands. Not Smith's fault. On the second pick, Smith was hurried and tried to force the ball to Mike Brown, who was in single coverage. Not a bad decision, but the hurry was enough to take a little juice off the ball, leading to the interception.
* Kicker Paul Young got crushed on his third extra point attempt, on a play that was totally legal, since the kick had been blocked before the contact. Ben Shipps took over extra-point duties. I'll have more on Young's injury in tomorrow's paper.
* Jerry Seymour is the real deal. Quick, elusive, shifty. Sure, there was some poor tackling on his 56-yard touchdown run, but credit the Glenville State back for making plays. He'll probably end up being one of the better backs Liberty plays this season.
* Danny Rocco wasn't happy with how Liberty ran its two-minute drill last week. But this week, thanks to a lucky bounce -- Britt Stone recovering a Dominic Bolden fumble -- the Flames looked crisp and efficient on the two-minute drill. Smith completed the drive with a 28-yard touchdown pass to Bolden.
* Bolden has been all over the place tonight. Two receiving touchdowns and a punt return for a score.
That's all for now.
